Awesome Computerized Holiday Lights
I should have blogged this last night, but I was working on too many things in one day, and I forgot about it. After we finished shooting our story on Tuesday’s horrid snowy commute, photographer Kris Berg and I drove over to a really sweet Christmas lights display in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis. There are 40,000 lights, all LED, and they’re synched up to a muscial presentation. Troy Lykken got it done. Lots of fancy computer programming. We shot a videoblog at a viewing party for the lights display. Plus, you can watch what the display looks like with the music. We’re that user-friendly here.
All the snow covered up many of his lights, although there’s kind of a cool effect of the lights shimmering through the white snow.
If you want to check it out, visit 3200 41st Avenue S in Minneapolis. And yes, last year I did a story on Troy’s high-tech display. But his display is even cooler this year.
